India Day 3 in the books
Day 3 got off to an early start. We went to our first meeting with a consulting company. They are an Oracle provider and we met them at our meetings with Nasscom on Monday morning. They may have someone from their US sales team reach out to us about setting some meetings up for them with Indy companies. They also suggested adding them to our website for helping with Indian business. An idea that came up during our discussion was to potentially have a separate page on our website for each of our targeted countries so that specific information could be given about those specific countries and companies.
We then went to Mahindra and had an amazing meeting. They welcomed us warmly and had done amazing research on our city and gave us an amazing presentation that really hit the mark.
I told them we were visiting a manufacturing company and would be presenting location options as well. They immediately wanted additional information regarding possibilities in Indy.
Mark Fisher did the presentation at this company and did a terrific job! He did it on just a couple of hours of sleep as jet lag reared it’s ugly head for him last night, waking him at 3 am. This meeting wrapped up with a dinner in an executive dining room with their senior leadership team which was brought to a close with some strawberry ice cream. Mmmm good.
We then traveled in the first rain of the trip. It cleared all the motorcycles off the road and had all of the cyclists standing under trees and overhangs along the road. Our next stop was a life sciences company. They are interested in 16 Tech park and Mark Fisher is planning on sending them the video in an email and we will be connecting them to Matt Kirby and Nancy Langdon to learn more about 16 Tech and the life sciences industry in Indianapolis.
The rains really opened up after this meeting which caused a lot of flooding in the streets on our way to our last meeting of the day. We went to visit K- Pauls office here in Hyderabad. They are extremely efficient with their space. They were incredibly welcoming! On the way, we entered a small and very tight alley. I said out loud, “I cannot believe there aren’t more accidents”! Before accidents was out of my mouth I was slammed against the seatbelt and my necked slammed forward. One of the mechanized rickshaws had rammed into the back driver side wheel well and stopped us in our tracks. Noel Paul hit the seat back face first and thankfully only bent his glasses. No one was hurt. The other driver was riled up even though it was totally his fault. Our driver was trying to protect us and simply backed up and pulled away without getting any information from the other driver. CRAZY! I was livid and felt terrible for our poor driver. I am hopeful he doesn’t lose his job over this.
We are now back at the hotel for our last night in Hyderabad. We will be leaving for Mumbai at 5 in the morning which means packing and a short night of sleep if we can get to sleep.
Hope all is well in Indy!
